Last day for Year 6

Wednesday is the last day for Year 6, traditionally we have a school farewell on the Netball Court just before bell time which parents are invited to. The children in all the other grades form a circle on the Netball court and the Year 6 children go around the circle saying goodbye with a few high five hand slaps along the way.

This will commence at approx. 2:30 pm.

Another tradition is having a piece of their uniform signed. If the children want to have their uniform signed they must have written permission from you. The uniform to be signed cannot be worn when being signed so it will need to be brought in separately.

The children have mostly been very settled as they approach the end of their primary school years and we ask that you speak to them to ensure that they finish their time at OLOR respectfully.

They have been a wonderful year group throughout their time at our school and you have every reason to be extremely proud of them.

End of Year Info

Here is some information about things that are happening for Year 6 children between now and the end of the year.

Firstly, could you please check at home for any library books as we are missing quite a few from our classrooms and there are a lot of children that are saying that they are at home “somewhere”.

Graduation:

Children need to be at the old school hall in the teacher’s car park by 6:15 please.

They need to be in FULL SCHOOL SUMMER UNIFORM.

Mass starts at 6:30.

After Mass the parents are asked to make their way to the hall where we will have a short presentation followed by a light supper.
This will commence at approx. 7:30pm, concluding at approx. 8:30pm.

Year 6 Fun Day

We have been giving the children points of late for good behavior to ensure that the children who attend Fun Day have proven that they deserve to take part. We have done this as a few have decided that it is an automatic right and that their behaviour has no impact on their attendance. They need to have 100 points by Friday to attend which will be no issue for many.

The children will be divided into 12 teams and should have a great day. They organize a team uniform to wear on the day (it should not be anything good as they do get very messy.
They also must have a hat and sunscreen and a change of clothes to go home in.

We will be discussing this more with the children tomorrow.

Carols at the Twilight Markets

We need some singers so if they can come at 6pm on Friday it would be much appreciated.

Last Wednesday

At about 2:30 on the last Wednesday we will farewell the children on the Netball Court, more details to follow.

The other 9 tasks are optional. Students have 2 weeks to complete tasks to get to a specific total of points. You will find the spelling lists on our homework page. Grids are to be signed and returned on Thursday each fortnight (weeks 2,4,6 & 8).

Welcome to Term 4

It is hard to believe Term 4 is already here. The last term of Primary School before leaping into the great unknown of High School.

  • Enjoy every minute.
  • Continue to work hard.
  • Take time to ask questions.
  • Enjoy the friendships you have made during your time here at Primary School.

One last Term of being 'The Big Kids'. Take this opportunity to leave your mark on our school community. Think about how you want to be remembered by all who remain after you leave.

Compulsory Confirmation Meeting

Here is a copy of the letter sent home about Confirmation this year. The meeting is tomorrow night.

THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Dear Parents,

Welcome!
We are looking forward to sharing with you this journey of faith as your child prepares to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Confirmation preparation involves learning, sharing, serving, fellowship, spiritual growth and fun! The children will be given the opportunity
to learn more about their Catholic faith and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Confirmation is the Sacrament in which one is
enriched by the gift of the Holy Spirit and bound more perfectly to the Church. It strengthens us and obliges us to be witnesses to Christ
by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. It is the Sacrament in which one enters into full membership in the Catholic
Church. Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the Sacrament which gives us the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply as children
of God, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us
to bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. Confirmation, like Baptism, imprints a spiritual mark or indelible
character on the Christian soul; for this Reason one can receive this sacrament only once. A Christian does not live as a child of God through
his or her own efforts alone, but through the grace of God. Therefore, it is our duty to seek the grace that God offers us in order to live our
lives as Christians in the way that God intends.
A – ask for Grace
B – Be Gracious
C – Completely Trust in the Lord

At Our Lady of the Rosary Kellyville, parents are invited to attend a compulsory meeting to assist them in preparing their child to celebrate this Sacrament.  The meeting date and time is: Tuesday 12th May at 7.30pm, in the School/Parish Hall and will last 1 hour. Please note that we will hold the Marian College Year 7 Enrolment on the same night, so please bring your completed enrolment form with you. Marian College is aware that these forms will be handed in after their deadline.

To pre-register your child and avoid queues on the night, please email the following details asap to sacraments@olorparishkellyville.org.au

Childs Full Name
Childs Date of Birth
School child is currently attending
Both parents’ names, email addresses and contact numbers

After the first meeting, families are invited to spend time in prayer and discussion to determine if this is the appropriate time to prepare their child for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Families ready to begin the preparation program are to take with them a copy of the Enrolment Form, complete it and return it to the Commitment Services on either of the following two dates: Saturday 16th May at 6pm or Sunday 17th May at 11am.

PREPARATION DAY – Saturday 25th July (1.45pm until 6pm followed by Mass with families) – Child ONLY

CONFIRMATION CEREMONIES – Fridays 31st July, 7th, 14th or 21st August at 7.30pm – Child with parents and siblings

Registration and Enrolment forms will be available at this meeting.  This meeting and all subsequent dates, included in the Sacramental Programme for Confirmation are compulsory, as they outline all the requirements and dates for this programme.  Should you the parent not be able to attend the meeting, please advise me prior to the evening.  If you are unable to commit to all the Programme dates then please discuss with myself immediately.

Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or call the Parish Office.

We look forward to working with you and your child.

God Bless

Canberra Excursion News

Parents,

Yesterday we finalised parent helpers for our Canberra excursion. There were many volunteers but after we counted staff, Father Robert and parents that needed to come for either medical or supervision needs, we only had 2 seats left on the bus. All volunteers were placed in a hat and drawn out in front of the children, one dad and one mum. We realise that this is a disappointment for some, however, we were limited by seats available in the bus.
It was wonderful to see so many parents wanting to come and if we had a bigger bus we could have taken more. The parents that will be attending are:
